A season of stage lights, travel, and growth.

How is it already May?! This spring has flown by, packed with memorable moments and meaningful milestones. As we look ahead to a busy summer, here’s a quick look back at what made this season so special.

April marked the start of our “go time,” kicking off with musicals. Jordis made her debut in her very first production with our Co-Op — and let’s just say, the stage might have found its newest star. She stole the show, and it’s clear she feels right at home under the spotlight.

Later in the month, we took a much-needed trip to Arizona to visit family as a family. It was refreshing to slow down, reconnect, and soak in the beauty of the Southwest. As a national park-loving crew, we couldn’t resist squeezing in visits to three parks during our short stay.

We closed out April in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at the 54th Annual IAMA Conference. This gathering brought together 38 member organizations, along with individual members and guest mission aviation organizations. The conference began with a welcoming Meet-and-Greet on Monday evening and concluded with the annual banquet on Thursday night. Throughout the week, we engaged in insightful sessions and connected with fellow mission aviation professionals, gaining valuable perspectives to propel SOAR’s mission forward.

We wrapped up our busy spring with Isabella’s Fine Arts Night at our Co-Op. She’s been serving on the worship team for the past few years, and it’s been such a joy to watch her grow in both skill and leadership. I’m so proud of the young woman she’s becoming and the heart she brings to worship.

Meanwhile, back at SOAR…

Our mission candidates are continuing to make steady progress in their training journeys.

Skyler Redding recently completed his first solo flight—a huge milestone and a major step in the flight phase of his training. It’s been amazing to watch his growth, and we’re encouraged by the momentum he’s building. We can’t wait to see how the Lord continues to guide and shape his path forward in mission aviation.

Bailey George also reached a significant milestone by earning his Commercial Pilot Certificate! This follows the completion of both his Private Pilot Certificate and Instrument Rating. He’s now working toward his final certification—the Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Certificate—bringing him one step closer to completing his training.

As Bailey nears the end of his time with SOAR, it’s a mix of excitement and bittersweet emotions. We’re so proud of all he’s accomplished and look forward to seeing where God leads him next. Please join us in praying for wisdom and clarity for Bailey as he prepares to make some big decisions about his future in aviation ministry.

We’re also thrilled to celebrate Dustin Penner, our newest Missionary Candidate! Dustin is currently working toward both his Flight and Maintenance certifications. He recently took his first flight—an exciting milestone as he begins his journey in aviation ministry.
